BIO
Mikel Dale is a British-Basque video game composer based in Los Angeles. Classically trained with a specialisation in adventure, fantasy, and JRPG music, Mikel has a wealth of experience with live orchestras and frequently records in studios such as AIR Studios London, Ocean Way Nashville Studios, and Synchron Stage Vienna.
While collaborating with Shinmera on the post-apocalyptic 2D platformer Kandria, Mikel teamed up with singer Julie Elven (Horizon Zero Dawn, League of Legends), whose solo vocals are at the heart of the game’s soundtrack. The soundtrack album and single ‘Shevalin’ were published by Rare Drop Music.
Currently, Mikel is working on the Kickstarter success The Silent Kingdom, a dark otome JRPG by Lucky Cat, as well as the strategy game Monstrous Realms by Lockbow Games. In demand as additional composer, Mikel worked with BAFTA- and Ivor Novello-nominated composer David Housden on Disney Illusion Island, developed by Dlala Studios, and the sci-fi bullet hell Luna Abyss, developed by Bonsai Collective.
As well as composing for games, Mikel released his debut album Orchestral Video Game Medleys, featuring four arrangements of classic video game soundtracks. The ‘Animal Crossing Medley’ from this album was nominated for Best Music Cover or Remix at the 21st G.A.N.G. Awards (2023).
After studying piano under Valentina Kalashnik, Mikel graduated with a master's degree in composition from the Royal College of Music, London. He then worked under 2-time Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization IV, Old World) before becoming a full-time video game composer.
